1Information We Collect
- Account information: your name, email address and user ID from the account you sign in with (such as Google or Apple), the phone number you add so your contacts can find you, and your account creation date.
- Trusted contact information: names and phone numbers for contacts you add to your safety network.
- Location and trip data: current location, speed and heading, destination, route progress, check-in status, panic session location, and related timestamps. We collect this only while Guard Mode, a WatchMeOver trip or Panic Mode is active.
- Saved places: destinations you choose to save in the app.
- Notification data: push notification tokens for your device and the alerts we have sent you.
- Feedback you send us: feature requests and votes, and the optional reason you give when deleting your account.
- Device-stored security data: panic code and security keys are stored locally using secure device storage and are not sent to us.
2How We Use Information
- Provide core app safety features: Guard Mode, WatchMeOver and Panic Mode.
- Detect possible danger during an active session, such as a sudden stop that may be a crash, a lost connection, or a detour from your route, and alert your contacts.
- Share your safety status with contacts you explicitly select.
- Send emergency and session notifications.
- Maintain session state, account access, and reliability.
- Improve safety workflows and service quality.
4Data Retention
- WatchMeOver trips: location history is deleted 24 hours after the trip ends.
- Guard Mode: we keep only the most recent hour of location while protection is on, and older points are deleted continuously.
- Notifications: your in-app alert history is kept for 90 days.
- Account, contacts and saved places: kept while your account is active, unless you remove them.
- Panic code and certain security data are stored on your device and managed locally.
5Permissions and Controls
- Location permission: used for live safety tracking, including background updates while Guard Mode or a trip is active.
- Contacts permission: used only to let you choose trusted contacts.
- Notification permission: used for safety alerts and important session updates.
6Your Choices
- Stop sharing at any time: turn off Guard Mode or end a trip, and location collection stops.
- Manage your contacts: add or remove trusted contacts and saved places in the app.
- Delete your account: you can delete your account in the app's settings. This permanently removes your account and the data linked to it from our servers.
- Ask us: to request a copy of your data or ask a privacy question, email contact@koyantaw.app.
